Hello, fellow music enthusiasts!
We recently embarked on a musical journey that was nothing short of remarkable – the Talent Is Timeless UK Songwriting Retreat 2023. Hosted by the incredibly talented Saskia Griffiths-Moore and renowned singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine, this retreat brought together a diverse group of songwriters and musicians, all eager to create and connect.
Despite the challenges posed by the infamous Storm Babette, which caused some travel delays, our dedicated group of participants made it safely to the 4-star Ringwood Hall Hotel in Chesterfield. As the saying goes, the show must go on, and so it did.
A Creative Oasis Amidst the Storm
The retreat kicked off with a sense of anticipation in the air. Musicians from various backgrounds and experiences gathered to immerse themselves in a weekend of songwriting, collaboration, and inspiration. The energy was palpable, and the storm outside couldn’t dampen our spirits.
Unlocking Creativity with Boo Hewerdine
Our retreat host, Boo Hewerdine, is no stranger to the art of songwriting. With a wealth of experience and an uncanny ability to spark creativity, Boo guided us through a series of workshops that pushed the boundaries of our songwriting skills.
Under Boo’s expert guidance, we delved into the intricate process of crafting melodies and lyrics. Through group exercises, one-on-one sessions, and collaborative writing, we explored new horizons of creativity. Boo’s invaluable insights and genuine passion for songwriting fueled our inspiration and helped us discover fresh ways to express our musical ideas.
Songs That Tell Stories
As the weekend unfolded, it became evident that something magical was happening. Despite the stormy weather outside, our collective creativity was in full bloom. We shared stories, laughed, and even shed a few tears as we crafted songs that resonated with the core of our beings.
These songs weren’t just melodies and words; they were stories of our lives, our experiences, and our dreams. From heartfelt ballads to lively folk tunes, our retreat produced an eclectic mix of music that showcased the depth of our collective talent.
A Community of Music Lovers
One of the most beautiful aspects of the Talent Is Timeless retreats is the sense of community they foster. As we navigated the creative process, we discovered kindred spirits who shared our love for music. Friendships were forged, collaborations were born, and a profound sense of belonging enveloped us all.
Looking Ahead
The Talent Is Timeless UK Songwriting Retreat 2023 was an unforgettable experience that reminded us of the power of music to unite, heal, and inspire. We departed with hearts full of gratitude and notebooks filled with songs waiting to be shared with the world.
As we reflect on this incredible weekend, we can’t help but look ahead to the future. More retreats, more music, and more opportunities for talented individuals over 50 to shine on the global stage. Talent Is Timeless is more than a community; it’s a movement that celebrates the enduring creativity of artists of all ages.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates, events, and collaborations. The journey has just begun, and the music continues to flow.
Until next time, keep creating, keep sharing, and keep making timeless music.
With heartfelt melodies,
The Talent Is Timeless Team

This was my first ever songwriting retreat, and it was a game-changer for me. If no-one minds a garbling of metaphors, it felt like a journey through a storm into a bright light that lit us all up.
There is something so odd about nervously stumbling into a room and emerging 48 hours later filled with joy from the music, chat and forging of new friendships. The music, musicianship, lyricisation and (new word), worderage was breathtaking…I wish someone had made a documentary of it all. Thanks, Saskia and Boo. Fantastic!
Awww I’m glad you had a good experience Ian! It was lovely to have you there… I really find the retreats bring so much life into our community. Real connections, and great new songs…
After a really crazy journey from London and a very lovely taxi driver taking pity on me and getting me through the floods to the retreat, I entered into a wonderful, inspiring and talented group of songwriters who truly whetted my appetite to begin my return journey into song writing which had lain dormant for a time. Listening to what was written by the group and being inspired by Boo’s exercises ,I left on Sunday with renewed excitement with what can be achieved through co-writing, sharing ideas and listening to and performing our own works . Thanks everyone and hope our paths cross in the future and many thanks to Saskia without her enthusiasm to share her vision of talent is Timeless we would never have met fellow lovers of this delicious craft.
This was a wonderful workshop! So creatively inspiring. I treasure the memory!
