Dear Judges,
I’ve been keeping a journal for years and looking back now it seems every few months I’d be asking: what is my purpose? why am I here? If I attempted to answer myself, it would often include the Wish – I want to be a songwriter. A song that would take the listener to a place they needed to be to hear what they needed to hear to heal their soul and lift their spirit, to cry a little or sing along. Over the years I’d see glimpses of that dream, but this one was different. I proclaimed: I think I did it – wrote that “one hit wonder” that has been inside of me. The Universe gave me the words and they poured out of me in just a few short minutes. It was as if the page wanted to suck the ink right out of my pen, it just flowed. When I reached the end, I didn’t want to change a thing and I felt this is my shot, I have to do something with this. So dear Judges, I put this in your hands so you can guide me on my path to creating music! Lyrics without a melody is like Knowledge without action – it is merely potential! I look forward to your critique and sharing in the wisdom of your experience. Being a rookie at this stage in my life is exhilarating and with adding a twist on your motto: You are never too old to be what you were meant to be!
