Zero-Beer-Thirty
D9 A9 A7
It was Zero-Beer-Thirty, half past closing time.
A9 A7 D9
Time to settle the bills, clean up the spills and finish my bottle of wine.
G D9 A9 D9 D
There’s a girl in the mirror staring into her beer, long past happy hour.
G D9 A9 D9 D
It was Zero-Beer-Thirty and she’s thinking of leaving me now.
D9
The crowd made for the door as I was sweeping the floor
A9 A7
Stacking the chairs for the night.
A9
I finished wiping them down and without turning around
A7 D9
I asked her if she was feeling alright.
G D9 A9 D9
Her silence was louder than that Saturday crowd, aughing and shuffling out.
G D9 A9 D9
It was Zero-Beer-Thirty and she’s probably leaving me now.

A9 A7
I heard a corner stool scraping the floor.
A9
Though I had asked her to stay and hear what I had to say,
A7 D9
I felt a breeze as she walked out the door.
G D9 A9 D9
The bar room was empty with a ten dollar tip and an empty glass holding it down.
G D9 A9 D9
It was Zero-Beer-Thirty and she’s already leaving me now.
