“SO UNWORTHY”
Lyrics, Music, and Musical Arrangement by Julius J. Davis, Jr.
Copyright c 2012 by Julius J. Davis, Jr.
**THIS SONG IS DEDICATED WITH ALL MY LOVE AND MY HEART TO MY DAUGHTER, CHELSEA LAEL DAVIS, IN THE HOPE THAT SHE WILL COME TO KNOW HER HEAVENLY FATHER, AND IN KNOWING HIM, UNDERSTAND AND FORGIVE HER EARTHLY FATHER.
1st Verse
Little hands, and a little voice
Four o’clock in the mornin’
Makin’ wake-up noise
Tiny toes on my neck and head
Tiny little echo sayin’ ev’ry word I said
The most amazing thing of all
Is how much love my heart can hold
For someone oh so small, I’m
CHORUS
SO UNWORTHY(So unworthy—background vocals)
To have a Father’s love
SO UNWORTHY (So unworthy—background vocals)
Had to come from God above
SO UNWORTHY (So unworthy—background vocals)
And it’s hard for me to see
How a worthy Father’s perfect love
Loves unworthy folks like me (modulate up ½ step after each chorus)
2nd Verse
Years go by, and now she’s grown
The baby girl I used to hold
Holds a baby of her own
She called me up, just the other day
Tears of thanks came through the phone
And I could hear her say, I’m
(CHORUS)
3rd Verse
A bloody cross, on a dusty hill
He prays, “Daddy, I don’t wanna die,”
“But for You, I will,”
So He gave His Life, gave it up willingly
A worthy Saviour shed His Blood
For unworthy folks like me, I’m
(Repeat Chorus twice and end song)

BIOGRAPHY OF JULIUS J. DAVIS, JR., aka
JUICE THA BLACK BEETHOVEN
Born in the birthplace of Jazz (New Orleans, Louisiana) and raised in the Rock and Roll capital of the world (Cleveland, Ohio), JULIUS J. DAVIS, JR. (a.k.a. “JUICE”) is a third generation musician, choir director, pianist, and music teacher.
An incredibly unique childhood blessed Julius with two Godly, church-oriented parents (Inez Lawrence Davis and Julius Joseph Davis, Sr.), and, both Inez and Julius Sr. were professional musicians, as well as music teachers/educators. When the Davis family moved from New Orleans, Louisiana to Cleveland, Ohio in 1963, young “JUICE” was immediately enrolled in the Cleveland Music School Settlement, a renowned community music education institution. It was there, at this institution where he formally and officially began his music education in Classical Piano and Music Theory. His teachers immediately recognized his prodigious talent for the piano, and he studied there for the next ten years. Upon his graduation from Shaw High School in 1974, he attended Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) on a full music scholarship, until his graduation from that institution in 1978, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Degree with a dual concentration/major in Music Education and Piano Performance.
In 1979, Julius began to compose his own pop, R&B, and dance songs, and after several years of submitting these songs to various record companies and music publishers, his song, “STRIVE,” was recorded by the internationally known R&B/Disco artist, GLORIA GAYNOR. The song appeared on Ms. Gaynor’s album, “I AM GLORIA GAYNOR,” as well as hitting the Billboard Top 100 Singles Chart (#86) in the Summer of 1984. In 2009, Mr. Davis’ original African-American spiritual, “DONE SET MY MIND ON JESUS,” was performed in concert by the Tuskegee University Golden Voices Concert Choir. One of Juice’s original Country songs,“BONAFIDE COUNTRY GAL,” was released in May, 2021 as a part of a new virtual music platform based out of London, England called Concerto XL.
Look out for Juice’s upcoming Halloween EP (Extended Play Album) on WOA Records and Music (based in London, England). This rockin’ EP is called, “JUICE’S KIDZ HALLOWEEN DANCE SMASH BASH” and will feature five (5) original Halloween songs, “DANCIN’ WITH DRACULA,” “THE TRANSYLVANIA TWIST,” “WOLF MAN ROCK (WOLF MAN ROCKIN’),” “FRANKENSTEIN FROMP,” AND ZEENA (I’M A ZOMBIE GIRL), all written, recorded, and performed by Julius “JUICE” Davis, JR., aka JUICETHA BLACKBEETHOVEN…
Aside from creating, recording, and performing songs and music of all genres, “JUICE” has another great passion, which is teaching and sharing his love for music with children, youth, and adults. Currently, he is the retired Music Teacher/Choral Music Director at St. Andrew Catholic School (Cape Coral, Florida), as well as an Adjunct Professor of Music at Florida Southwestern State College in Fort Myers, Florida.
“JUICE” consistently composes, records, and performs songs in these genres: Pop, Country, Traditional/Contemporary Gospel and Christian Music, R&B, Rap/Hip-Hop, Children’s, Comedy/Novelty, Vintage Dance Pop, EDM, as well as music for movies and television. His ultimate goals are to be a consistently great hit songwriter of multiple genres of music, to write a hit Broadway musical, and to write music for movies and television. Look for more “JUICE” music under his Artist Name, JUICE THA BLACK BEETHOVEN, as well as on his website, JuiceThaBlackBeethoven.com.
Juice Tha Black Beethoven’s most recent release is his Dance/Pop song, “POUNCE,” which was released on WOA International Records (London, England, UK) on August 27, 2025, and has hit the Amazon UK, Amazon US, and Apple Music Charts.
Ultimately, “JUICE’S” personal goal with his music is to make a “CONNECTION” with ANYONE AND EVERYONE WHO HEARS AND LISTENS TO HIS MUSIC….PERIOD!!!

Julius, this song has the Juice for sure! I love every word, and plus, I like the way you weave the chorus to reflect back the verse lyrics. This is something born of experience, not fantasy and I’d love to hear the actual track. God bless and keep you in Jesus’ love. – John in England’s “City of Music” – Birmingham.
Greetings, John Ruffle, this is Julius “JUICE” Davis, JR., aka Juice Tha Black Beethoven!
I just had to respond back to you for your gracious, wonderful, and incredibly poignant comments, about my song, “SO UNWORTHY.”
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU….
You are DEFINITELY ON POINT…the lyrics came at a time when I was in serious conflict with my Daughter’s Mother (not physical, just emotional and psychological), and writing songs was the only way that I could express myself and get “physical” by getting “physical” lyrically….
I do have a musical track that goes with the lyrics…unfortunately, I never had the chance to record this….I’m hoping that GOD will allow me to fully track this song, and present it to my precious Daughter…just FYI, my Daughter and I are “best buds” right now, and we text each other daily, and try to talk at least once every two week….
Actually, we only “talk” when SHE wants to “talk”….LOL…she’s 24 YO, living her life, and I just pray for her….
But again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for your very kind words of support and encouragement…
And, may I please “add” this….?
I would absolutely LOVE to hear your songs, your lyrics, your music…if it’s OK with you, please send me a link, website, etc., so that I can listen to your incredible songs…and I would also love to know more about your musical life and experience, if that would be OK with you…
If yes, then fine…if no, that’s cool too….but I have a “feeling” that you’ve got some really great songs that need to be heard….
Again, THANK YOU so much for your encouragement, and for taking the time to listen to my song, “SO UNWORTHY”…..
Blessings and Peace
Sincerely
Julius “JUICE” Davis, JR., aka
