Lyrics
(Verse 1)
The charts are spread across the weathered wood,
Of a life spent chasing where the wind felt good.
He wasn’t just a singer with a clever line,
He was a compass needle for a restless mind.
He taught us how to breathe when the world got loud,
A glimpse of the coastline… far from the crowd.
(Chorus)
Out past the reefs where the dolphins play,
Where the sunset paints the sky and the angels stay.
You showed us the sunshine inside of your songs,
The harbor is quiet now, but your spirit carries on.
So sail on, Jimmy,
sail on.
(Verse 2)
He was the trade wind blowing through a tired soul,
The one who told the stories that make us feel whole.
A captain of the spirit, a pilot of grace,
Who often found magic in a mundane place.
Beyond the restless shore where the jagged rocks climb,
He taught us how to sail on the waves of time.
(Bridge)
The sun’s dipping low, painting fire on the sky,
The kind of sunset that brings a tear to the eye.
The anchor’s hauled up and the lines are all tossed,
But the feeling he gave us can never be lost.
He’s making for a port that we can’t yet see,
Built out of starlight and pure melody.
(Chorus)
Out past the reefs where the dolphins play,
Where the sunset paints the sky and the angels stay.
You showed us the sunshine inside of your songs,
The harbor is quiet now, but your spirit carries on.
So sail on, Jimmy…
sail on.
(Outro)
We miss you, old friend, but don’t worry or fuss,
As Parrot-Heads go… there’s still plenty of us.
We’ll keep the party moving until we’re all gone,
So sail on, Jimmy…
Awe Jimmy
Sail on…
