Pieces of Me by Michael R. J. Roth

Lyrics

Pieces of Me

I leave pieces of you
When I move around
The mysteries about you
I forgot to write down
I lose something precious
That once left me breathless
Fragments of dreams, pocket debris
Love become fleshless
Vanishing pieces of me

On the banks of the Suwanee
I let go of your ring
A fallen star sinking
Into the deep
I threw away your keys
At a lake by the bayou
Tied your scarf ‘round a tree
Letting go of you
I was losing pieces of me

Bridge:
Every raindrop leaves a mark
Every star’s a blazing scar
I’m embarrassed by the galaxy
That stares at me so silently
You are gone but I survive
How dare I be alive

I recall the night you died
And the litany of sighs
So many things fell in the trash
One night by the fireplace
I saw your shadow in the ash
They say dust is made of human skin
I haven’t dusted since
It’s been so long since you moved on
I am almost gone
