Lyrics
When I’m drowning in a sea of constant negativity,
waves curl and crash on my reality.
And, I know it makes no sense and it’s hard to believe,
but something deep inside keeps telling me to leave.
Just drift away right now, leave the world behind,
no more struggling in the undertow of this daily grind.
But, I keep on swimming back towards the safety of the beach,
even when the shore seems too far and out of reach.
And, I thank the Lord for sending you to me,
’cuz you and our family are my life beyond the sea.
Like the tide I rise and fall, in the ebb and flow,
forever fighting the force of its pull.
But, you’re always there when I meet the shore,
constant and patient as I roll back and forth.
Beyond the swirl of thoughts, that forever bring me down,
there’s the thought of loving you, that’ll never let me drown.
You’re the warmth of the beach and the sand beneath my feet,
the line that pulls me in when I’m out too deep.
And, I thank the Lord for sending you to me,
’cuz you and our family are my life beyond the sea.
And, when a storm rages and the surge is way too much,
you calm the wild water with your loving touch.
You’re the breakwater, dear, so the waves don’t crash on me.
You’re my life. You’re my everything.
And, I thank the Lord for sending you to me,
’cuz you and our family are my life beyond the sea.
You and our family are my life beyond the sea.
My life beyond the sea.
waves curl and crash on my reality.
And, I know it makes no sense and it’s hard to believe,
but something deep inside keeps telling me to leave.
Just drift away right now, leave the world behind,
no more struggling in the undertow of this daily grind.

Bio
Bob is a singer songwriter who started writing songs back when he was the lead singer for the rockabilly band called, Haywire. The band gained some notoriety locally and actually played live on Daniel Dunn’s radio show, Homegrown that aired on WSCP back in the late 80’s. Bob started playing solo eight years ago after a lengthy hiatus from music. He is a prolific songwriter who writes primarily in a folk and country music style. A semi-retired graphic designer and illustrator, Bob turned his creative attention to writing as a way to help deal with childhood trauma and his struggle with depression and the effects that mental illness and alcoholism have had on him and his family since he was a child. Many but not all of his songs are about that struggle, Bob finds humor in many situations and his story songs are a reflection of the brighter side of life. Bob hosted a Songwriters Showcase at The Yard in Manlius over the Summer, where over 50 songwriters came and played their original music in a “listening room” type atmosphere.
