Better Left Unsaid
Words can cut deep, down to the heart
Even when you don’t really mean them
And though they’re sincere, sometimes all your tears
And I’m sorry can’t stop the bleedin’
So Be sure to choose the words you use
From your heart and not your head
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from bridges I’ve burned
Some things are better left unsaid
I know sometimes emotions run high
And we say things without thinkin’
I’m willin’ to bet, like me you’ll regret
You ever thought of leavin’
So if the word goodbye is on your mind
Think about this instead
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from bridges I’ve burned
Some things are better left unsaid
Sticks and stone may break bones
But only words can break a heart
Once there’s a crack, there’s no goin’ back
Without leaving a scar
If you need more proof what I’m sayin’s the truth
Just look at the life I’ve lead
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from bridges I’ve burned
Some things are better left unsaid
I moved to Nashville in 1992 with the dream of becoming a songwriter. Unfortunately, life got in the way and family took priority. I continued to dabble in songwriting and doing the occasional writers night. Now that I am semi-retired I have decided to dust off my writing skills and give it another shot.
