Lyrics
You and me, arm-in-arm
With the sunlight slowly fading
Me and you, still on the floor
When the band’s no longer playing
Both of us mesmerized by the words we both are saying
I can see it now …
You and me, side-by-side
Facing the altar
Me and you, pledging to
Give all we have to offer
Pause for a second to remember where we all were
I can see it now …
That would be a picture
Suitable for framing
That would be a gift where
You keep the box it came in
That would be a moment
When you’re never more the same and
That would be a picture suitable
Suitable for framing
And I would hang it up somewhere
Where I could always see
The way it might have been
If you had just loved me
You and me, standing proud
Hair quickly graying
Me and you, surrounded by
Kids and grandkids playing
Both of us grateful for the family we’re displaying
I can see it now …
That would be a picture
Suitable for framing

You keep the box it came in

What an absolutely beautiful story. It reminds me of the opening scene of Up where you see a couple’s life flash by, all the love and history they had.
The imagery is so powerful I could imagine the whole story in my mind as I read it. In my eyes that is the mark of an excellent lyric.
