Lyrics
ROADSIDE CROSSES Lee Baxter 3rd Fret Capo
G
You can see them in the distance from behind your steering wheel
They can pop up out of nowhere and they make you want to feel
CG
Like you really want to know them, but all you do is say a little prayer
Some are young, some are old, others in-between
I guess we’ll never know the reason why they never got to live their dreams
C
There’s ones that we may never pass again
G
But I know we’ll see a few before our times end down here
G Em
Roadside crosses I wonder who they were
G Em
Roadside crosses was it him or was it her
C
But I know they’ll still keep driving on
G
down another highway where they belong up there
G
Some are decorated, others just plain bare
Some you can see that photograph of the life that wasn’t spared
C G
We look and turn away again, we touch the brake before the bend appears
G Em
Roadside crosses I wonder who they were
G Em
Roadside crosses was it him or was it her
C
But I know they’ll still keep driving on
G
down another highway where they belong up there
Am C
Was it a rainy night or was it that drunken driver
Am C
Whatever the circumstance there were no survivors
G Em
Roadside crosses I wonder who they were
G Em
Roadside crosses what it him or was it her
C
Was it just a baby child, robbed of its sweet smile
G Em
Roadside crosses lets you know that loved ones care
G Em
Roadside crosses lets you know that life ain’t fair
C
But I know they’ll still keep driving on down another highway
G
where they belong up there
C
But I know they’ll still keep driving on down another highway
G
where they belong up there
C

C G
But I know they’ll still keep driving on …up there

Bio
LEE BAXTER
Tim Richards Lee Baxter
As a singer-songwriter, Lee Baxter chronicles life’s journeys, painting word pictures with his lyrics and touching the heart through his emotional vocals. “Just Three Pounds” is an original song composition, a song that tells of a birth, of lives connected through efforts to save a child and the ultimate joy of survival.
Aaron Lee Baxter, Lee’s son, was born prematurely in 1994. Clinging to life, and weighing “just three pounds”, this child faced life’s challenges earlier than most. He also inspired a song, written by his Dad in 2010.
Lee Baxter has been performing and writing since his childhood in Australia. In the last few years, upon reflecting on life, Lee has composed a variety of original songs. He has performed on stage, on radio and at private gatherings. Lee also has been commissioned to write original songs commemorating special events.
Lee is honoured to be a part of this opportunity to bring attention to the importance of neo-natal care. He offers this song, “Just Three Pounds”, that you as the audience will be able to relate to. Listen carefully, you might hear your own story being told.
Accompanying Lee will be pianist, Tim Richards, a talent in his own right.
“Just Three Pounds” is dedicated to Lee’s son, Aaron
