Lyrics
Well, you are gone and now part of me
Has been torn away:
And I know we’ll meet once again
On that glorious day;
But right now …
my heart is so heavy,
It won’t be cheered;
And my mind is numb
and my eyes
They are full, so full,
Of tears.
Maybe tomorrow this wound will be whole;
Maybe next week I’ll be back in control?
Maybe this sorrow will one day be relieved;
Maybe tomorrow – but tonight I will grieve.
Well, I know you’d have stayed if you could,
But you had to go;
And your place now is empty and void
And I need to know
How to cope …
when life is so empty
Without you near;
I must wait for this grief to be gone
And my clouded mind
to clear.
Maybe tomorrow …
Bridge
You have left us and gone,
But your memory lives on
In the hearts of the people you loved.
Though for you it is gain,
But for us who remain,
There’s a hollow that cannot be filled.
I remember many things that you did,
Many words you said;
How they warmed my soul –
You’ll live on
here inside my head.
And although
I know you’re now in
a much better place,
There’s an emptiness by my side
‘Cause I miss your smiling face.
Maybe tomorrow …
2nd chorus
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll be seeing the light;
Maybe I’ll wake up and all will be right?
Maybe this pain will be healed up and gone;
Maybe tomorrow – but for now it lives on.

Comments:
The story is one that many people can identify with.
The imagery isn’t very strong so I would concentrate on using the “show don’t tell” technique to help make your lyrics stand out. So instead of “my heart is so heavy” describe what that feels like.
