2025 Competition Lyrics Entry:

Guano Loco by Nancy Johnson

Lyrics

Vs 1:
She walked in through the door
And everybody stared
A vision of perfection
With locks of raven hair
Her hips were gently swaying
She had bedroom eyes
With her come hither lips
Well they all fantasized

*Chorus:
But she’s guano loco
And I don’t mean maybe
She’s a gorgeous woman
But she’s batshit crazy
Guano loco
Better save yourself
And leave that woman alone

Vs. 2:
He had an air about him
Like there’s nothin’ he can’t do
He gives off the impression
That he’ll take good care of you
He’s got a big, warm smile
And you’ll get lost in his eyes
With his six pack abs
Well they all fantasized

Chorus:
But he’s guano loco
And I don’t mean maybe
He’s a gorgeous fella
But he’s batshit crazy
Guano loco
Better save yourself
And leave that man alone

Vs 3:
They’re walking the red carpet
Waving to their fans
Glamorous and hip
It all goes hand in hand
But they take what they want
Without a second thought
So quit your fantasizing
‘Cause there ain’t no denyin’

Chorus:
That they’re guano loco
And I don’t mean maybe
Yes they’re gorgeous people
But they’re batshit crazy
Guano loco
Better save yourself
And leave that woman
Leave that man
Leave those people alone!

*For airplay, as an alternative to “Batshit crazy” you can substitute with “just plain crazy”

Bio

When it comes to crafting a bio and tackling the classic “Who are you?” question, my response is often infused with a dash of my wicked humor, leading me to ponder, “Sometimes I wonder…”

On a more serious note, I am a singer/songwriter whose debut album, “Chaos & Grace,” hit the airwaves in June 2023, firmly planting itself in the Americana genre.

While I love to sing and write songs, I consider myself an entertainer, having fun with my audience, giving them some backstories to the songs, sharing a laugh, thus allowing them to forget about their troubles, at least for a little while. But as much as I love all of that, the thing that brings me the most joy, is connecting with my audience.

Beyond the melodies, I wield a rhythm guitar and hold the title of a multi-award-winning author, known by the moniker The Vermont Homesteader. With two published physical books, “Life is Good: Wit & Wisdom From a Vermont Homesteader” and “The Vermont Homesteader’s Christmas Memories: Wit, Wisdom & Holiday Recipes,” along with three Kindle Select Short cookbooks, I’ve woven my tales both musically and literarily.

Outside the realms of music and writing, I proudly wear the hat of a mother to four boys, three dogs, four cats, and a flock of clucking chickens. Amidst these roles, I tend to a large garden, revel in the joys of cooking and baking, and derive immense pleasure from nourishing the bodies and souls of those near and dear to me.

  1. Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it! But I do have a question or two for you. Could you give me a couple of examples of songs that use the show don’t tell me method?

Because as I see it there are lots of hit songs that use the ‘tell me method’ -Livin’ On A Prayer, Free Falling, I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You, I Will Always Love You are a few examples -and if you disagree, I’d REALLY like to know why! Please know I am NOT trying to be obnoxious, rather I am trying to learn.

Thank you again and be well,

    Best,

    Nancy
