Hey David, it was nothing more than a lucky shot from a plucky featherweight
Basking in glory you stand tall and straight yet while you celebrate
Here comes Goliath’s brother and he’s in no mood to conciliate
With an open look of vengeful hate he is his sibling’s duplicate
Says he’s going to kill the son of the one that done him wrong and serve his head upon a plate
Too late to abrogate or emigrate you stand beneath a tall floodgate
With only the signs and wonders of history’s blunders to make your eyes dilate
But them’s the odds when you’re fighting for gods and they leave you to your fate.

Lives change at your command, the room falls silent when you raise your hand
You order up the breeze and seize a whirlwind that you can’t withstand
Every action lays the table for a feast of consequence and reprimand
A drop of life in a coincident ocean, a grain of chance in the quicksand
You set the fire and you wonder why the room is hot
Life was just a tangle till you ran your fingers through it and it became a knot
What lies upon the road less travelled by and who would dare to share the trip?

The haunting pleas of refugees persuade the righteous hero by degrees
Who survives the lion’s den to be stung by bees and killed by allergies
War is never over, even if you want it or just because you don’t
You might think they’re out to get you, it doesn’t mean they won’t.
