2025 Competition Lyrics Entry:

Blind Faith by Steve Barnes

Lyrics

I see all the sinners
Pass me by all day
I see them all condemned
So many sad souls pay
Despite the way you act
You’ll face your judge one day

So press on with your life
Care not whom you harm
Trample over mortals
With temporary human charm
I see through all your wiles
Just like an animal farm

The flock’s out on Sunday
Massed in a dense worship
A hedge against a life
To try to get a grip
They pray away their time
And write their entrance slip

Creed is fighting creed
Allah, God or more
All claim they’ve got the place
Heaven’s crowded door
They line up in the queue
To pay for the holy war

Heaven full of angels ?
Who now rots in hell ?
Tell me who was so pure
To ring the division bell ?
The myths and all the lies
‘Cos man has gone to hell

See what you want to
Seek peace with your fate
But I will not accept
Blind faith on my plate
While I strive to see
I may turn up too late !
