2026 Competition Entry:

“Goodbye to Procrastination” by Kent Tapani

Lyrics

“Goodbye to Procrastination”

There was a time I enjoyed your presence, procrastination.
Had I some problems to face or new plans to try,
you always reminded me: “Take your time,
what’s the rush, tomorrow is a new day.”
“Do nothing today” – I hear you say.

Little by little you grew on me,
procrastination I was stuck on you.
You gave me all reasons not to try too hard,
and I placed my trust in you.
You were my defender and my hiding place.
“Do nothing today” – I hear you say.

Instrumental

Then one day, I heard it through the grapevine
that procrastination is stealing my time.
I tried to defend you my dearest one,
but ‘they’ made me see your true colors.
Even a fool could see
you were leading me on, you were leading me on.

Year after year, I could hear you say:
“New opportunities will come your way”.
But the promise you made me turned out to be false,
and I began to have doubts about you.
“Do the Procrastination” was the name of the game.
Do something today – you never did say.

(Be)cause of you my procrastination,
I almost gave up my dreams and hopes.
But now I know what you’re made of,
I really know what you’re made of.
So, this is goodbye to you,
I won’t be missing you.
Am I getting through?
I won’t be missing you!
