2026 Competition Entry:

For a Limited Time by Glenn Page

Lyrics

Verse 1:
I went out shopping the other day
Looking for a really good buy
So many items on display
Didn’t know which one I should try
Maybe some books, or a tie, or cologne
Any little thing I could find
Just give me something to call all my own
And that’s when I noticed the sign

Chorus 1:
For a limited time!
Only for a limited time
Every little thing could be mine,
But only for a limited time

Verse 2:
Wallets and belts, accoutrements
Lining every aisle after aisle
I wasn’t sure what I should get
Something that might make me smile
A vaccuum to fill up the void that I feel
A tee-shirt that changes my life
Something distracting to help me forget
If only for a limited time

Chorus 2:
For a limited time!
Only for a limited time
You won’t believe what you’ll find
But only for a limited time

Bridge:
I better act fast
Cause time’s running out
And I’ll be underground
I better act fast
Get to figuring out
Exactly what’s been weighing me down

Verse 3:
We sold our souls so long ago
For credit, possessions and pride
We’ve got our phones, but we’re all alone
There’s nothing deep down inside
Everything else but the things that you need
Society tells you to buy
Baby, don’t worry, cause I still believe
It’s only for a limited time

Chorus 3:
For a limited time!
Only for a limited time
Kiss it all goodbye,
It’s only for a limited time

For a limited time
Only for a limited time

Bio

“I will write one standard before I die.” – Glenn Page

Glenn Page is the songwriter, producer, and radio personality best known for his popular Father’s Day song “Strongest Man in the World,” (250k views, 1800 tiktoks), as well as “Halloween Is My Christmastime” and “Christmas Is Love.” As a big fan of classic pop/rock songwriting with brains, Page writes songs that are accessible but clever, hooky but subtle, straight-forward but slightly off-beat and arty. “I’m fascinated by songs that are perfectly of their time, yet still endure for all time,” says Page. His biggest influences are The Kinks, Roxy Music, The Fixx, The Damned, Roy Orbison, April Smith, The Monkees, The Beatles, Iggy Pop, The Bee Gees and Devo. “I tend to write two types of songs,” Glenn continues, “sad songs about memory and loss, or satirical, funny songs. Some songs are both. Plus, I have a few retro pieces and holiday-oriented numbers! I’m all over the map, really, even if it’s all very clearly me.” – Dec., 2025.
