” Last Boxcar Ride ” PLW 1/1/26 c
I swung up through the boxcar door,
on a freighter leaving Baltimore,
over in the corner, sat an old man
said ‘howdy son,my name is Stan.’
—-o—-
Sittin’ down beside him, said my name is Ted,
i guess we’re both going ,where this train is head,
headin’ out West ,is where i’m goin’
been crossing these state’s ,toing and throwing.
—-o—-
Been up North, where it’s snowy and icy,
now i’m amin’ for the capital,Washington D.C,
don’t know just how far i’ve come,
but all my life, been a railroad bum.
—-o—-
Seen all i want to see,of this great nation,
now i’m headed for ,my last railroad station,
my life’s all done now, just as far as i can get,
they’re gonna’ lay me down,in Mount Olivet.
—-o—-
Ch:- They’re gonna’ lay me down,
they’re gonna’ lay me down,
in Mount Olivet,
Lay me down ,in Mount Olivet.
