2026 Competition Entry:

(I Want) Nothing to Do With You by Glenn Page

Lyrics

Verse 1:

Another lazy Friday evening
We’re getting cozy on the couch
I suppose we’ll just stay in girl
Even though we could go out

And I know we saw this Seinfeld
But the jokes they all seem new
Cuz it feels like doing something
When I’m doing nothing with you

Chorus:

I want
I want nothing to do
Yeah, I want!
I want nothing to do with you

Verse 2:

Saturday came quickly
Lots of errands to be run
There’s a sale on Vera Bradley
Man, that ain’t my idea of fun

But leave the car keys and the AC
I’ll ride shotgun like I do
Cuz it feels like doing something
When I’m doing nothing with you

Chorus:

I said, I want
I want nothing to do
Yeah, I want!
I want nothing to do with you

Bridge:

Well some people spend their whole lives
Chasing race cars across the stars
But they never see the flowers
Growing in their own backyard

Verse 3:

Now it’s back to work on Monday
The boss is yelling constantly
He’s making something out of nothing
Just like the whole damn company

On my desk you’re in a sundress
And it helps me to get through
Knowing someday I’ll be somewhere
Doing nothing with you

Chorus:

Oh, I want
I want nothing to do
Yeah, I want!
I want nothing to do with you

I love doing nothing with you

Bio

“I will write one standard before I die.” – Glenn Page

Glenn Page is the songwriter, producer, and radio personality best known for his popular Father’s Day song “Strongest Man in the World,” (250k views, 1800 tiktoks), as well as “Halloween Is My Christmastime” and “Christmas Is Love.” As a big fan of classic pop/rock songwriting with brains, Page writes songs that are accessible but clever, hooky but subtle, straight-forward but slightly off-beat and arty. “I’m fascinated by songs that are perfectly of their time, yet still endure for all time,” says Page. His biggest influences are The Kinks, Roxy Music, The Fixx, The Damned, Roy Orbison, April Smith, The Monkees, The Beatles, Iggy Pop, The Bee Gees, and Devo. “I tend to write two types of songs,” Glenn continues, “sad songs about memory and loss, or satirical, funny songs. Some songs are both. Plus, I have a few retro pieces and holiday-oriented numbers! I’m all over the map, really, even if it’s all very clearly me.” – Dec., 2025.
