Lyrics
You never get back to where you’ve been
But sometimes you come close to it
You never go back to whom you once were
But somehow you catch a glimpse of them
You don’t know what lies inside your soul
But you feel someone was here before you
You can’t see what’s burning in your head
But it once felt like it was about to implode
You never know, you never know
But then again, you know for sure
That everyone else is also faking it
You can’t tell if your whole world is falling
Or if it’s just a bit too much for one day
You know you should try something new
But you think maybe you just need a sandwich
You feel you’ve are one with the universe
But then it turns out to be indigestion
You should avoid tomatoes after midnight
Or never have avocado toast ever again
You never know, you never know
But then again, you know for sure
That everyone else is also faking it
You’re pretty sure you’ll be fine in the end
Or else the end will be just fine without you
You’re telling yourself a different story
Just to keep your head above the surface
And if you’re friends don’t call you often
Maybe there just busy with their own life
And if your mom never calls you back
It might have to do with her passing away
You never know, you never know
But then again, you know for sure
That everyone else is also faking it
You never know, you never know
But then again, you know for sure
That you’d like to be the one who stops pretending
But sometimes you come close to it
You never go back to whom you once were
But somehow you catch a glimpse of them
You don’t know what lies inside your soul
But you feel someone was here before you
You can’t see what’s burning in your head
But it once felt like it was about to implode
You never know, you never know
But then again, you know for sure

Comments:
Such a clever, funny and then sad song. Your use of humour and pathos made the other more powerful. Well done!
