Lyrics
FADED GLORIES.
V1. No money- no plans – home movies alone;
The fall that comes after the pride.
The thin glass of wine that stands on its own –
Instead of the tears not cried.
I went from the world in the palm of my hand
And the woman of ‘past midnight hours’ …
To “Where did it slip to when time shifted sands?”
It’s no longer all champagne and flowers.
Chorus.
Faded glories more subtle
Than a fleeting eye can see,
Missing lovers who once had it all.
Jaded stories – burst bubbles
Bitter –sweet tragedy….
The no-one that nobody calls.
V2. Lone midnight strolls past bright neon lights –
My old haunts greet new faces now.
Love struck and smiling, with time on their side-
I’m yesterday’s woman – and how !
Now in the mirror- the old me long gone –
Reflecting misfortune’s deep lines…
That tell the old tale of too much gone wrong,
The ashes of burnt out old times.
Repeat chorus.
V3. Now shut the curtains to blot out the moon…
Its light holds no promise up there.
Savour the good times- they end all too soon,
And don’t leave your dreams in the air.
The faces that light up the bar-rooms and beds
Melt into the shadows in time…
And leave just the four walls we secretly dread-
Knowing you’re well past your prime.

Thank you. May I ask if there are higher comments than “commended” (such as “brilliant” or whatever), and what happens next?
