Back 9 by Michael Turajlich

Lyrics

Verse 1

If my old man was alive he would of been 85
Now I’m sure he is golfing somewhere in the sky
Here on this earth on his back 9 of life
His round got cut short on the day that he died
I will always remember the last game we played
It was just me and him it was on father’s day
At the first hole he looked over to me
Said son you’re still young but one day you’ll see

Chorus

On the back 9, years of your life
You will learn to just, enjoy the ride
We only get one shot one shot at this life
Like a drive off the tee time will fly right on bye
They’ll be days you just gotta play where it lies
And days that you’ll replay again in your mind
So what ever the dream, never give up on trying
Until it’s your time to leave this world behind
On the back 9

Verse 2

Par for the course, I wish he was alive
To see me just finish, finish up my front 9
Never saw him break 90, now I need 45
Tomorrow’s not a gimme, so while I’m alive

Chorus

On the back 9, years of my life
I will learn to just, enjoy the ride
We only get one shot one shot at this life
Like a drive off the tee time will fly right on bye
They’ll be days I just gotta play where it lies
And days that I’ll replay again in my mind
So what ever the dream, never give up on trying
Until it’s my time to leave this world behind
On the back 9

It’s been seven plus years since I picked a club
I just couldn’t play, this game that he loved
Then one day something, just came over me
In honour of him, I stepped up to the tee

Chorus

On the back 9, years of my life
Now I learned to just, enjoy the ride
We only get one shot one shot at this life
Until it’s my time to leave this world behind
On the back 9
