Lyrics
The Voice of Jesus
(To the tune, The Sound of Silence)
Hello Jesus, my true friend
I’ve come to pray with you again
I heard the words you were speaking
in my mind while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
I feel the love of Jesus.
In troubled dreams don’t walk alone
In narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a church lamp.
I opened my heart to the music’s chant
And my eyes were stabbed by the flash of his precious light
That split the night
I saw the light of Jesus.
And in that dazzling light, I saw
Ten million people, maybe more
People praying without speaking
Others praying without listening
People writing songs, with voices we all shared
and no one dared
Disturb the thought of Jesus.
.
“Fools” said I, “do you not know
that faith just like our Jesus grows
Trust his words that he might teach you
Take his hands that he might reach you
For some, words like silent raindrops fell
and echoed in the thought of Jesus.
And his people bowed and prayed
To the caring god we made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that he was forming
Then the sign said, “The words of the prophets are written in the scripture scrolls
and Christian’s souls”
And learned from the voice of Jesus.

I don’t know if I can judge this set of lyrics as they have been written by Paul Simon and you have changed a handful of them to be about Jesus rather than silence.
You haven’t credited a co-writer which you clearly should have as Paul Simon wrote 95% of these lyrics.
