Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Your old-side-yard was our field of dreams
We were building forts & making up games and schemes
Cracking bats, yea we played some ball
Yea we loved those summers I do recall
[Chorus]
Just two young boys out having fun
We were stars on that field till the streetlights came on
Trying to grow up, as the summers roll
We were just learning about life, and how our story goes
[Verse 2]
It was something small, I don’t recall
Our pride flashed hot before our fall
Too stubborn to admit our friendship cracked that day
So we both just chose to go our separate way
[Chorus]
Just two young boys out having fun
But we missed each other’s star, when those lights came on
Trying to grow up, as the years still roll
We were learning about life, and how our story goes
La de da, La de da dadi dadi dadi
La de da, La de dadi dadi
La de da, La de dadi dadi
[Verse 3]
Ran into you years down the road
We talked about life our jobs and how the weather goes
We laughed like nothing ever broke
But we both felt the ghost in those jokes
[Bridge]
Some games are not meant to lose or win
They are lessons learned on who we’ve been
[Verse 4]
Yea we finally said what we couldn’t say then
We shook hands like long-lost friends
We’re good now, yeah we’re okay
But not quite the same as it was back in the day
[Chorus]
Just two young boys out having fun
We were stars on that field till the streetlights came on
Now we’re all grown up as our summers roll
But we’re still learning about life, and how our story goes
[Outro]
Your old side yard still lives within me
The time we shared are fond memories
I’m happy we had a chance to get things right
And My friend I hope your days are still shining bright
[Last Chorus]
Just two old boys still having fun
We were each stars in our own way when those lights came on
All grown up but the years still roll
Now we’ve learned about life, and how our story goes
La de da, La de dadi dadi
La de da, La de dadi dadi
La de da, La de dadi dadi
Repeat fade…
