Without You

Before anyone asks, I'm fine. In fact my wife and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary last weekend on the 4th. I played around with some chord shapes, then the melody arrived and the words followed. I'll pop the lyrics and chords into a comment.

  1. Here are the lyrics: Sitting in the garden
Waiting for the summer sun to warm me
    Winter’s just a memory now
And a soft wind is blowing through the trees

    Quietly contemplating
    Watching birds build empty nests
They know that they will fill them
But my only thoughts are thinking about you

Wishing you were sitting by my side
Brushing tears away, I cannot hide
But I know, I’ll get through
One more day, on my own, without you.

  2. And the chords: Verse Amaj7, Dmaj7, Amaj7, Dmaj7 C#m7, Bm7, Bm7b5,Abm7b5 X2 Chorus/Bridge Amaj7, Dmaj7, Amaj7, Dmaj7 C#m7,F#7sus4, F#7, Bm7,Edim. I think that’s right.

  3. Belated Happy Anniversary to you both! What a beautiful sweet song! I really enjoyed it, beautifully sung and a beautiful melody that really brings the chords to life. Well done. Thanks for the Zoom and tuition that has inspired me to get on with mine!

  4. Happy anniversary to you and your wife. You certainly know your chords and how to use them to good effect. This has a lovely jazzy feel to it, which is really catchy. Great stuff. Cheers, Phil

  5. Nice use of “all the chords.” It sounds as if you are no stranger to any of them. Very fluid progression and complimentary melody. Very clean recording as well. A solid tune all around. Good work!

  6. So lovely, I really enjoyed this. Has something of “Bread” about it, very chilled and moving at the same time. Absolutely gorgeous, thanks for having a go and posting – and by the seems of it taking the time to help others.
