Here’s the lyrics
WHEN EVERYTHING IS SAID AND DONE
I remember all the good times when we first set out
I’ve been thinking of the time when you said
That you loved me then and that you would for all of time
And we’d be together come what may
Well I’d feel the warmth of you beside me in my bed
Around the closing of the day
I remember how you used to smile and used to love
Whatever happened to us babe
I’m so sorry that we came undone
I’m so sorry that you felt that way
At the end of it when everything is said and done
I don’t regret a single day
Remember when we led upon that southern beach
And the water it was lapping at your toes
And you said you’d love me and you wish that this would never end
But we know just how the story goes
I’m so sorry that we came undone
I’m so sorry that you felt that way
At the end of it when everything is said and done
I don’t regret a single day
As the years go rolling by
We started drifting apart
I didn’t know how to pull us together
And try to mend our broken hearts
Well I guess you felt the need to have to move on by
And my love I hope you’ll find one day
To have some happiness once more inside your wounded soul
I wish you well for every day
I’m so sorry that we came undone
I’m so sorry that you felt that way
At the end of it when everything is said and done
I don’t regret a single day
At the end of it when everything is said and done
I don’t regret a single day
I enjoyed listening to your song, and your interpretation of my Nominated Theme, Regret. Your lyrics and melody put a positive spin on what could be a depressing topic.
Thank you Ian. I did try and make it not all doom and gloom so that I didn’t have to hide the sharp objects ?. Congratulations by the wsy on winning last month’s challenge. Great song. ?
You always have good songs Huw. I told you before I like your guitar work Good bouncy song great lyrics, I liked it a lot
Thank you George. Very nice of you to say.
Hi Huw, hope all is well. Really upbeat pop song which, for some reason, reminds me a bit of the pure, quailty pop that Nick Lowe writes. It is as catchy as Hell and shows what a good bloke you are in not regretting the past. Nice one, mate. Cheers.
Cheers Phil. What a lovely comment. Although the story is fictitious, I do try not to dwell on the past as what’s done is done. Live life for today. Huw
Hi Huw, I like the way you have kept this theme upbeat. I also really like the lift into a catchy chorus and you have made the middle 8 catchy as well, which I always find tricky. Great job!
Thank you so much Julie. I am trying to give my songs a bit more of an upbeat sound even if the subject matter can be a bit down. I don’t usually manage it though ?
Nice upbeat rendering. Slightly country feel but positive interpretation of the theme. I like the idea of things coming ‘undone’. Good work!
Thank you Mike. I appreciate the comments
You certainly know how to craft a song that leaves your listener tapping their toes and feeling upbeat, Huw. Great interpretation of the challenge.??
Thank you Suzanne. Glad you like it
Love this one Huw. The chorus is epic. Loved hearing it live too.
As I said on FB. A rollicking great song. Classic!
Nice one!
Good song Huw!
