Walk Awhile
Melody Walk Awhile by Phil Crooks
I have kept this very simple as someone who can sing better than myself (which isn’t difficult) can easily add more verses.
I feel this melody would maybe suit a hymn more than a song, but that’s just the way I hear it. Hope you enjoy the lyrics.
The dark days shine so bright
every time I see you coming.
My heart it skips a beat
when you walk into the room
Chorus
When the night time falls
and the skies are open.
A million billion stars
will shine down on you
The brown leaves turn to green
as you walk the autumn forest.
The small birds sing so loud
when they see you passing thru.
Chorus
When the night time falls
and the skies are open.
A million billion stars
will shine down on you
Bridge
Come with me just you and me
we will walk this earth together.
Nothing to fear as we sail thru the tears of life’s sad and broken dreams.
We will fly across the sky
Our souls are bound forever
Together we’ll stand as we walk through the sand of the world’s widest seas
The dark days seem so bright
everytime I see you coming.
My heart it skips a beat
When you walk into the room.
Chorus
When the night time falls
and the skies are open
A million billion stars
will shine down on you.
When you feel let down,
hurt, lost and broken
I will hold out my hand
I’ll be there for you.
Nice lyrics Harry. I particularly like the Brown leaves verse. Well done mate😁👍
Cheers Phil, it just needs someone who can sing to do it properly, that’s why I’ve repeated the verse etc, gives someone the chance to add their own.
Had a go at this one myself, Harry, because it was such a wonderful melody by Phil, but I ultimately went with another to submit for this challenge. Still, I’m so glad that someone put words to Phil’s work and uploaded their song as an entry here, and quite a fine job you’ve done! Great story revealed in this heartfelt lyric that both entertains and comforts.
What a lovely song Harry. You have some lovely imagery in there. It was an honest and exposed performance, which I enjoyed. Your voice has got a lovely tone. As a singing teacher may I suggest finding some YouTube vocal warm up videos, there are soo many, so try a few out. Having a proper warm up will really help show off your tone, and give you some confidence.
Thank you Chris, well appreciated mate. Thank you Julie for your kind words, I’m not a singer but it would help, as I love writing songs, I will have a look at the you tube videos, but in I think I’m a lost cause.
Lovely lyrics Harry, the song has a nice ‘comforting’ feel about it too. Just reading the previous comments about vocal warm ups, etc, and wondered if you’re aware of the Masterclass on 6th October with Alison Hustwitt – Vocal Care for Songwriters (details on the calendar). I’m planning on attending as I would also like to improve my singing, etc.
Thanks Anne, no I wasn’t aware of the Masterclass, thanks for letting me know, I will have a look!
Nice lyrics and a good fit with the melody. Well done Harry
