Time Refines The Melody

//Days of quiet contemplation
//That’s not how I roll
//Sitting silent in the darkness,
//Not for me at all
//Signs and visions stir my sleep
//And will not let me rest
//When obsession and compulsion
//Build up in my chest
//
//Of course the words will change
//Time refines the melody
//
//It’s just the movement in my blood
//I can't lay quiet and still
//I never learnt to hold the flood
//I think I never will
//
//Note for note and word for word
//Across my whole life long
//Year on year, day in day out
//I live and breathe my song
//Crop and harvest – wit and wisdom
//Rising from the ground
//Paint a picture, tell a story
//Sculpture into sound
//
//Of course the words will change
//Time refines the melody
//
//I thought perhaps I would grow out of it
//The passion fading and diminishing
//No matter if no one will want to hear
//I know that I will always need to sing
//
//Of course the words will change
//Time refines the melody
//
//It’s just the movement in my blood
//I can't lay quiet and still
//I never learnt to hold the flood
//But think I never will
//Root and branch fire and song
//Is burnt into the wood
//I never learnt to hold my tongue
//I think I never should
//I think I never should

  1. You are first and foremost a poem(thanks for posting lyrics). Too many great lines here to quote them…. Love the chord changes in the chords. “I never learned to hold the flood….” I love that line…
