The Wishing Tree

Congratulations to all of the August competition Winners. John, Ann and Graham

Here is my New Song for September

Folk Lore in cultures speaks of a magical tree that can empower a person or grant wishes. By standing beneath it and whispering your hearts desires or sometimes attaching a wish to the tree. There have been many films and books that feature “The Wishing Tree”. The song has some of my wishes in it. Hey who knows?

The Wishing Tree

If I can make you smile does that make me worth while.
It Can’t do any harm can it.
Cause I don’t want to get it wrong I’ve been in my own too long.
I need a lovers arms around me again.

Now if I had a happy bell around my neck to ring.
Would that put a smile on your face, make you sing.
Then I’d shine in your eyes, cause my hopes to rise.
Take my heart away, make my day.

I never want to drive you away from me.
I don’t really have the words to say how it should be.
But if I can make you smile.

If you could see inside my mind.
Would that compel you to be kind.
See me. Believe me.

If I planted a wishing tree and tended it carefully.
The stronger that it grew, the more they would come true.
But if I become to vain, I’d ask it to refrain.
Take all those gifts away, till I’m myself again.

I never want to drive you away from me.
I don’t really have the words to say how it should be.
But if I had a wishing tree, then I’d ring my happy bell.
Put a smile upon your face, who can tell.
