Story of a Love in Ten Objects
This song came about from an exercise some friends and I decided to set ourselves one weekend – to pick a book from the table and write a song based on it in 30 minutes. My book was 'A History of the World in 100 Objects'. So here's 'Story of a Love in Ten Objects'. It's not specially written for the challenge, in fact it's on my last album but I hope it still qualifies for the competition. This is a lyric video, where I'm singing to the backing track from the album version.
That’s a really interesting challenge you and your friends set yourself, and the result is a really original song that has a nice jazzy feel to the song. Nice one. Cheers.
This is a nice approach to a love song. We all have those things tucked away somewhere. Nice arrangement too.
Lovely choice of chords – refreshingly different. Nice beat too. Loved the instrumental part. I enjoyed this unusual approach to writing a song.
What a great way to get into the subject matter. I really liked how you approached describing a relationship through the objects along the way.
I enjoyed listening to this so much, Norman. You cleverly weave the mundane with deeper emotions & threads.
The “walking backwards into tomorrow” line is a light but beautiful touch. A very special song.
Some lovely chords and rhythm and I like the concept very much. Hard to find a new take on the theme of love. 👍
