Absolutely stunning. I love it
Me again, listening again, this has got to be one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard in a long time. Your lyrics, your guitar work, perfect. Thank you for this. A winner for me.
You are so kind… It means so much to me that you went back to listen a second time…
A very beautiful song that perfectly catches the essence of longing for youth and adventure as we get older. Love the lyric of the chorus. Excellent performance as well. Good luck in the competition.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am excited to hear the work of the other writers!
Thanks so much. I appreciate the performance comment, as I record in a cardboard box!
Beautiful!
Thank you for listening…. The song is inspired by an extraordinary landscape…
Just beautiful!
Thank you, Paul. I will never forget how it “sang itself” as I camped under the stars….
Lovely lyrics and I kept thinking of Joni Mitchell. That is a definite compliment
Thank you, Andy, for your comment. I always loved her work when I was growing up.
Absolutely beautiful. Wish I’d heard this before I submitted my entry. I wouldn’t have bothered.
Thank you Pete… I hope you never let anything dissuade you from sharing even if the comment was in jest. We are all just in our own little lanes as writers, and this is my little lane. Up until the pandemic, I had only written about other people’s stories. This was the most personal song I have written, and my fear was that it was too much so. But desperate times cause us to turn in, I think.
lovely sound great vocals and guitar so you re a songpoet charlotte
Thank you Tom. I was touched by your songpoet comment, as I am often negatively critiqued for my lines not being how people talk. But it actually IS how I think and speak… your encouragement means a lot.
Lovely
Thank you, Ervin
Thank you, Ervin!
Very nice Charlotte. Great writing and vocals. Great song. Good luck in the competition. I think you have a winner.
Thank you, Bill… I appreciate your kind words….
Oh, Charlotte! How I relate to everything you express here so eloquently and poetically. This is definitely going on the list of songs I wish I had written.
Thank you… this Third Act we are living in is definitely a reflective time, isn’t it….
Charlotte, what a wonderful piece you’ve created!
Thank you, Waseem…
Awesome song… Best of luck…
Thanks for listening and commenting ting Dennis.
A beautiful
song with a magical, mysterious identity, I said that to Fergus last year about his song and he won it! Absolute cracker Charlotte.
Kennie, that is so kind…. Thank you.
Now this is really, really good. Song’s great and so is the voice and guitar. And the harmonies.
Thank you….the back up singers are me, myself and I. They require no payment and are non-union.?
Beautiful song ! I love every bit of it
Thanks Kris. I have noticed that you are a wonderful encourager of your fellow writers.
Beautifully done!
Thank you for listening!
Now that is really good. Congratulations.
Thank you, Martin.
Lovely, lovely song. Mind you, I think you should consider unionising your back up singers. Minimum wages, healthcare and paid holidays. 🙂
The boss is opposed to unionization?. Thanks, Ian. I am not going to let the back up singers see this post.?
That’s a lovely song Charlotte. We share a bond, I was a finalist in the UK Songwriting contest 2021 Folk section, with a song called Cabin Fever. Didnt win Im afraid, but it gives you a few nervy moments doesnt it waiting for the results to come out 🙂
That is very cool, David. I would love to hear it. It’s funny…I never expected to be a finalist, and was so surprised I didn’t think beyond that. The coolest for me that year was actually being a finalist for the new melody for the lyrics to Yesterday, which has always been one of my favorite lyrics…but I must admit, it felt totally sacrilegious to do that?. Can’t wait to hear more of your music. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
Beautiful Charlotte. A worthy winner. And full of peace somehow. Hope you’re getting your mojo back. X
Thank you Heather. No mojo yet, but grateful to this community for their kindness and encouragement. Thanks for listening.
Lovely, Charlotte. I’m a fan.
Thanks, Ian. I appreciate your kind words!
Love it. You got my vote.
Thank you Carol…. Those pandemic years really cried out for reflection.
Wonderful song Charlotte. Just beautiful.
Thank you so much Alan. I appreciate you listening.
Yes masterful finger picking guitar & a gentle folky voice, yet to reach its prime I’d say! (Not way beyond!) Not sure why you couldn’t & now still can’t, sail the seas, climb those mountains, dance & sleep …… maybe there were harsh pandemic restrictions over there in Washington? So the lyrics are a little dreamy for me, maybe I have missed something? But you have a great sound here which could stand tall against those more famous Folksters of the 60’s & 70’s!
Yes, for sure the pandemic had an effect! I actually wrote the song while camping at my favorite park, the aptly named Deception Pass. I think all of the uncertainty of what was to come made me realize “the time is now”.
Hey Charlotte! Thanks so much for listening to and giving my song a vote. I just listened to Sail The Seas and …. WOW. That’s a fantastic song you wrote and I love your harmony too. Really stunning. I know it can be annoying when people make comparisons, but I got the Mary Chapin Carpenter chills when I was listening to this? Are you a fan of hers? But listen, it’s all you here. Congratulations on writing such a brilliant song.
Thanks! I actually heard that same comment from a music producer who suggested I send her my work….about twenty years ago…. I am a little slow to follow directions. The harmony part always works better when I get to sing the part because I know my own nuances, although ,my hubby, who is an awesome tenor, does a beautiful job when he records with me.
Haunting, nostalgic, and optimistic at the same time! The chorus really hooked me and i sank into it. Very well done!
Perfect Song. Love everything about it .
Really lovely
Wow – Kate Wolf lives.
That is so kind to make that comparison. At 70, I am just grateful I can still sing!
A beautiful song, sung beautifully.
Thank you Ian for listening and commenting.
Superb … the tingle factor. A song for our age, in both senses.
Thank you Malcolm. Definitely a song for my 70 year old experience….lots of bucket list items to conquer…
So beautiful, one of the best songs I’ve heard for a long while. Everything about it compliments. Perfect.
Sally, that is incredibly kind to say. Thank you.
