Run
Run
#chanceschallenge
Different lyrically from previous efforts. Family legend had it that my grandad came down from Co Durham to London on Jarrow March and ended up staying. Turns out came down before the march but he did leave home young and went to London and stayed. Using that as starting lyric goes off in different direction. Struggling with voice at moment but finished the song so posting it!
Another belter!
Cheers Simon!
You had me in tears by the end, Alan; he didn’t run. Billy Bragg would enjoy this one too, I’m sure. Well done. ?
Aw! Thanks Suzanne – that’s really kind.
Great song, there Alan. You’re on a roll!
Thanks Ian!
Another fantastic song Alan, such a comfortable structure beneath a great story brilliantly told.
I commented on the other site, this is another cracking song from you
Really good Alan, I agree with Suzanne – touch of the BIlly Bragg’s (but better sang than Billy!). I like this as it is a universal subject. My uncle came up from Wales to seek his fortune and didn’t find it, married and English girl, was a Desert Rat, luckily he survived the war. In other words, we can all relate to it. Nice one.
Thanks Phil!
Thanks Kyle!
Thanks Rebecca!
Great story song.
Thanks Kris!
This is really powerful. It’s a really strong performance as well. Thoughtful lyrics.
Thanks Julie!
Great song Alan. I like the way it builds from the picking to a quieter strum into a full bodied take no prisoner feel.
This one really rocks – I could hear this with a full bodied electric band! I sort of get the Billy Bragg references but I’m think more Nick Lowe. Great melody!
Thanks Huw!
Thanks David – really appreciate reference to Nick Lowe! Will bank that ?
