One of a Kind (for Justin Reynolds)

Justin spoke about how life is a gift, and how he appreciates the small things day by day, how he loves the relationship between words and music and that finding music around the age of 20 has been his lifelong consolation.

One of a Kind

When I was 20, life gave me plenty
Of hopes & goals to explore
But the passage of time, it wasn't that kind
And I settled for less than before

Now I am 50, life's an epiphany
I see the world through new eyes
I capture life's mystery
Let of my history
Happy I'm one of a kind

From a heightened perspective
I'm now more selective
Of how I perceive my life
Each day is a gift & from where I sit
I'm putting my wrongs back to right
I'm putting my past out of sight

I'm not my losses nor my gains
Not my ecstasy nor my pain
Not my memories & not my mind
I'm a simple man & one of a kind

All through my journey
I've learned firmly to be
A wordsmith & musical man
It consoles me and holds me
To witness my story & to know that's not who I am

From a heightened perspective
I'm now more selective
Of how I perceive my life
Each day is a gift & from where I sit
I'm putting my wrongs back to right
I'm putting my past out of sight

I'm not my losses nor my gains
Not my ecstasy nor my pain
Not my memories & not my mind
I'm a simple man & one of a kind
