My Old Tram Bridge
The footbridge over The River Ribble, in Preston, has been closed for three years now – Condemned by our local council. It was originally a 'Metalled plateway' part of a route between the isolated Lancaster Canal and the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Never actually had a "Tram" over it – was designed by a man named Outram – therefore "The Outram Bridge" – us Prestonians – over the years – probabably due to our Lancashire dialect – 'Bastardised' this and is always referred to as "The Old Tram Bridge"
An nice elegy for a treaured landmark. I like the harmonies and the singable chorus
It’s always heartbreaking when a local landmark is lost. Youve captured beautifully how something inanimate can be brought to life with human stories. Great response to the challenge.
These landmarks we’ve known through our lives are forever treasured memories. These changes leave us with deep feelings of sadness and past times now lost forever. You capture the poignancy in your song, Graham. A fine tribute.
A lovely memory song Graham
Thought that was great. As has been said, fine singable chorus, and a thoughtful reflection on things past and soon to be lost.,
A fine lament!
