My Happy Days

Although I didn’t really appreciate it at the time, some of my happiest childhood memories are the summers we spent on the farm. I would be grateful for any feedback, as always. Lyrics are as follows:

Singing in the choir, Sunday morning church
Always a roast dinner served at one
Living in the country on a farm just out of town
Didn’t know it then but life was good

Riding on the trailers, bouncing down the fields
Picking up the bales of fresh mown hay
Bringing home the harvest, a race against the rain
If I could turn back time just for a day

We’d take a walk down Baseley Moor
Paddle in the stream once more
Pick daisies in the meadows where the cattle graze
Picnic on the bales of hay
Build a house where we all could play
Those were the summers, my happy childhood days
Those were the summers, my happy childhood days

Many long, warm evenings, wandering down the hill
Passing fields of barley on the way
Swinging on the gates, everything a game
If I could turn back time just for a day

We’d take a walk down Baseley Moor
Paddle in the stream once more
Pick daisies in the meadows where the cattle graze
Picnic on the bales of hay
Build a house where we all could play
Those were the summers, my happy childhood days
