John Jenkins – "From Here to There"
From Here to There
When all this madness is over
And tables are quietly stacked away
And time does not recognise tomorrow
And the sun won’t rise today
When the wind stops blowing
And the leaves no longer fall from trees
And no flowers are growing
Because it’s all been left behind with those tears
You and I we’ll go wandering
We’ll take the long road from here to there
Maybe we’ll make it to that rainbow’s end
Or find the time to have some beers
When this sadness is over
And the lights no longer fade
And the greatest of mysteries may reveal itself
And we all know who’s been lost and who’s been saved
You and I we can go sailing
Across vast seas from here to there
We’ll hold hands like we were lovers
Reunited once again
Who Knows the answers?
Is there someone who can show
Maybe I’m just wishing
Maybe its best if we don’t know?
You and I we’ll go wandering
We’ll take the long road from here to there
Maybe we’ll make it to that rainbow’s end
Or find the time to have some beers
Loved it – a beautiful reflection on what lies beyond the mortal coil , it conveyed a sense of longing to me and I enjoyed the soft gentle vocals that did the song justice – I will have a few more listens as I feel more will be revealed each time.
What a lovely evocative song with some beautiful lyrics.
Gorgeous reflective lyrics. Very easy to listen to. Lovely
Really enjoyed this John, and particularly the joyful, almost playful tune for such a sensitive subject. Brilliant.
Very nice John. Lovely representation of an emotive subject
Absolutely gorgeous John. Loved the tables being stacked away line. Lovely chords and tune.
