John Jenkins – Christopher Roberts
John Jenkins – Christopher Roberts
I wrote this in the last few weeks as part of the “Talent is Timeless” monthly challenge. This months challenge was to write a song about “passages”, one take on it for me was the “passing of time”.
Christopher Roberts was a junior school friend I had. Me him, Mike Norton and Philip Martin for some reason, now lost in the midst of time, were taken out of the boys part of our classroom and stuck with the girls on the other side of the room.
We bonded well because of this and Chris was a good friend but being in a catholic school and doing our 11 plus exams all of us ended up in different senior schools. I never saw him again and cant remember which school he went to such is life.
. Hope you like the song – Its all true.
Christopher Roberts
We were so young, A little wet behind the ears
Laughing crying, Whatever happened to all those years?
A photograph, memories
Kids in a schoolyard
Dirty faces sore knees
And did you ever imagine
How life would turn out to be?
All of those dreams we hoped for
Did they become a reality?
We were stupid
Exchanging comics, Marvel, and DC
Bursting tar bubbles
Scrubbing our hands with margarine
Painted my face the brightest blue
Christopher Roberts I often wonder what happened to you
And did you ever imagine you’d live to be 63?
Christopher Roberts – Where can you be?
And did you ever imagine
How life would turn out to be?
All of those dreams we hoped for
Did they become a reality?
We were so young, A little wet behind the ears
I hope you one day bump into Christopher Roberts again. As I mentioned on FB I really enjoyed this song and the reminiscent nature of it.
Thank you Rebecca, who knows? Xx
Very gentle and thoughtful. I had a special friend called Fiona. I wonder where she is.
Love your accent!
Ha ha x Its sad we can loose touch which people we have fond memories of x
