I Can Tell.
I'm hoping to qualify for the 'Bricks and Mortar' challenge on the metaphorical aspect with this song. During Lockdown a friend of mine had told me of how she would sing and dance around her husband whilst he was busy trying to work from home on a laptop. They have a lovely relationship with a lot of humour, so I thought I would try and write a song which she could conceivably sing and dance to around him, whilst he was trying to ignore her and get on with his work, highlighting some of the 'bricks and mortar' of a strong and happy relationship. Thanks for listening.
VERSE 1:
Doesn’t matter, who you are
Never trust a fallin’ star
If you find the sky’s are grey
I’ll be with you, all the way
PRE-CHORUS:
All that you learn
An’ all that you know
Wherever you look
Wherever you go, Know that
All that you find
The deeper you go
I am your reality
CHORUS:
You may act, as it you, just don’t care
You can hide, but then you, realise
That with me, Well I can see, right through
I’m a link, to your soul
I believe, that you know
I’m a gift from above
I Can Tell, By That Look, In Your Eyes
PRE-CHORUS:
Wherever you look,
Wherever you go, Know that,
all that you find
The deeper you go
I am your reality
CHORUS:
You may act, as it you, just don’t care
You can hide, but then you, realise
That with me, Well I can see right through
I’m a link, to your soul
I believe, that you know
I’m a gift from above
I Can Tell, By That Look, In Your Eyes
CHORUS:
You may act, as it you, just don’t care
You can hide, but then you, realise
That with me, Well I can see, right through
I’m a link, to your soul
I believe, that you know
I’m a gift from above
I Can Tell, By That Look, In Your Eyes
CHORUS:
You may act, as it you, just don’t care
You can hide, but then you, realise
That with me, Well I can see, right through
I’m a link, to your soul
I believe, that you know
I’m a gift from above
I Can Tell, By That Look, In Your Eyes
Certainly one to get up and move about to. Given the back story I can imagine her saying with a twinkle “you know I’m a gift from above” – it would be outrageous in any other form other than the relationship you’ve beautifully described. I’m sure she’ll love it and will enjoy dancing to it and singing along,
Great beat to this Kevin, will get toes tapping and heartbeats racing
Catchy upbeat melody and lyric. Poppy production, loved the handclappy percusive feel. Well done!
Definitely a foot-tapper! Nice upbeat feel to this. Well done.
This is a terrific dance number with lifts in all the right places, and a really positive message. It had me smiling with its positivity. The lyrics are top drawer, too ‘I can see, right through I’m a link, to your soul’ is class! For some reason I”ve not come across your songs before, but I look forward to hearing more. Cheers.
Great song Kevin. Infectious (in a good way unlike covid) beat and a lovely story
Great tangential take on the theme – bricks and mortar of a relationship. Its a great song – made even better by the back story of the lockdown couple
I really enjoyed the positive lyric and the backing arrangement, especially the arpeggios and the way the snappy percussion built up the chorus. Really clear spot on vocal too. Poptastic!
Great production to a good rhythmic song.
This is fun and very danceable, Kevin, and your voice captures the melody and fun really well. I really enjoyed the arrangement.
