Hear Her Song

I found this topic very challenging! In fact, I had decided to give it a miss but, a window of opportunity opened and I just got this done today. I hope you like it.

Running wild – come on, bless the child
Who never had a care – simply unaware – running wild
Flying free – come and play with me
What is there to fear? Say it loud and clear – flying free
She is protected – all harm deflected
And she can do no wrong – hear her song
There she goes – beauty head to toe
Who sees the good around her – our loving will surround her – there she goes
Hear her song – nothing could be wrong
There is no pretence – total innocence – hear her song

  1. You know I love your music, Simon, and this is tender and heartfelt; just lovely. Could you post the lyrics? I found some a bit difficult to hear & the YouTube transcript offered me “Netflix” & “when I say cheese”, which I think may not have been correct 🤔.

  2. Yes, this is lovely! Great response to the challenge. I’m sort of off the challenges at present, the subjects haven’t appealed recently, but the whole package here, the idea, tune and lyrics are brilliant!

  3. Hi Suzanne – no problem (my wife just said the same thing…can’t hear the words!) thanks for the improved lyric suggestions too!

  4. Thanks Mal! It’s so fresh I haven’t even heard it back enough to analyse it
Thanks Louise – I couldn’t write about my own childhood memories so I wrote about my daughter and my memories of her as a young girl….she is special xx

  5. That’s a really strong song Simon, one of those compositions that could be played across many genres. I for one hear NIck Cave belting this out to a slightly darker style, equally I hear Neilsen doing this in a more playful way.
