Freedom for Sale
Really late again!!!! I had high hopes of other instruments, including a Flugel Horn, but cough, cold and time got the better of me! So here it is in all it's one take glory seems it turned into a bit of a protest song. Freedom for Sale
V1 Freedom for sale
In a box, in a box
Freedom for sale
What’s the cost, what’s the cost
How much mud? How much blood?
Are we marching through
In the end what will we spend
Does it matter to you?
The price we pay when freedom’s for sale
The price we pay when freedom’s for sale
Freedom for sale
Freedom for sale
Freedom, freedom for sale
V2 Whips and chains
A people’s pain, a people’s pain
Whips and chains
They prayed in vain, still they came
Greed and lust, what can you trust
When you march to the drum
Your sweat your tears, all your fears
When you total the sum
Of the price we pay when freedom’s for sale
The price we pay when freedom’s for sale
Freedom for sale
Freedom for sale
Freedom, freedom for sale
V3 Freedom for sale
In a box, in a box
Freedom for sale
What’s the cost, what’s the cost
Packed and sold, tied with a bow
Check the sell by date
Wrapped up tight for their delight
‘cause this is sealed with hate
That’s the price we pay when freedom’s for sale
The price we pay when freedom’s for sale
Freedom for sale
Freedom for sale
Freedom, freedom for sale
Tenor guitar? How is it strung? You’ve captured the angst in the lyrics really well with the drone style of the music.
Freedom in a box is a brilliant image! Good song.
Thanks Bec and Kris. The Tenor is strung CGDG.
Really good stuff, Andy. You are really getting maximum bang for your buck withsome great rhymes. The idea that freedom can be bought and sold like any commodity is really interesting (and true, sadly). The guitar sounds suitably mournful for the demise of freedom. Gets a vote from me. Nice one, mate.

A strong message & rhythm, and that chorus will be ringing in my ears for a while, I think. As I mentioned on Facebook, I can imagine a single drum beat or even bodhrun too.
Thanks Suzanne
Great song, I love the beat and the drive.
Thanks Jayne
Really good protest song Andy 👏
Thanks Alan
