Freedom
This seemed like an opportunity to see the world from someone else's standpoint. There are far too many people where 'freedom' is too abstract to be of any help.

Brilliant turns of phrase throughout. That chorus is wonderful!
Kris King thank you so much! That means a lot.
Freedom
Shackles on my bank account, chains upon my purse
I’ve been rich and I’ve been poor, I know which is worse
Talk to me of freedom until your face is blue
It doesn’t mean the same to me as it means to you
Money gives you freedom to pay for private school
Every day I choose between buying food and fuel
Today the house was freezing,
though the children have been fed
That’s the price of freedom so the papers said
Shackles on my bank account, shackles on my purse . . .
Those who set the budget are those who will decide
The powerful and wealthy say their hands are tied
Next breath they are saying everyone is free
And if my kids go hungry that’s all down to me
Lecture me on freedom until your face is blue
It doesn’t mean the same to me as it means to you
Affluence is freedom, poverty’s a curse
I’ve been rich and I’ve been poor, I know which is worse
Nice performance and great lyrics 👍
Great song Eric. Very apt for today financial climate.
Great lyric, currently very pertinent! Well performed.
Thanks Paul. Much appreciated.
As I said on fb, great song and a very pertinent take on the challenge! I enjoyed your performance very much too.
The lyrics really cleverly capture our society. Great performance too. Great to have you back.
Nicely done, excellent lyric.
There’s much power in the apparent simplicity of your melody and performance, Eric. They’re the perfect vessel for the truth of your lyrics. It can stand as equal to some of the finest folk songs of protest I’ve heard over the years.
