Falling in Love

This started out as a nameless waltz on the Melodeon about 3 years ago. I started adding words and it slowly evolved into this song in the middle of last year which in when I recorded this rough idea.

I imagined it been sung in a smoky Parisienne café by a 1940s ‘torch’ singer.

Had to sync the video to the recording, a bit off in places, and had a little fun with the free video editing software I use.

I don’t speak French, but spent some time with a dictionary and Google translate.

Falling in love is easy they say
When you’re young you can fall in love everyday
Years pass you by, new loves come your way
But your first love will always stay.

Falling in love is simple indeed
Just a glance, in a room, is all it will need
Once love is sown then you will know
It will root in your heart and grow.

Though your first love may hurt you, It will never desert you
It will live in your heart to your dying day.
You will always remember, from March to December
That first love you gave away

You can never expect it, you may sometimes regret it
It can creep up as you look the other way
You must always embrace it, just stand up and face it
The love that will come your way

Falling in love is foolish they say
It is love keeps the world spinning every day
Toujours l’amour grandira dans votre cœur
L’amour que tu n’oublieras jamais

Though your first love may hurt you, It will never desert you
It will live in your heart to your dying day
You will always remember, from March to December
L’amour que tu n’oublieras jamais
L’amour que tu n’oublieras jamais
That first love you gave away
