Hi Dave, I’ve listened quite a few of your songs and for, my money, this is the best. In less skilled hands it could come across as mawkish but you manage to avoid that trap and you handle a difficult subject with skill and wit. Well done, that man.
Lovely song Dave. Lots of relatable imagery in there
Wonderful lyrics Dave! You have observed the scene and emotions of downsizing and conveyed them very sensitively and I really enjoyed it! Really well crafted song.
Some real gems in those lyrics! And perfectly expresses the disinclination to downsize – totally on board with that,
Nice guitar work. Witty treatment of the theme. A little nostalgic/sentimental for my taste but a good piece. Well done!
I really enjoyed this Dave. It nearly wraps up all the thinking behind contemplating a move, the chorus sums it all up so perfectly and I think the tune complements it so we can easily follow along with you. We haven’t got to the point of considering downsizing (I still have a teenager in the house) but I’m dreading the prospect for the future for all the reasons you’ve skilfully described in the song.
You’ve lovingly woven together the memories & emotions that create a home, Dave. Thoughtful lyrics and sensitive performance.
