Diane

A song about the American photographer Diane Arbus who elevated the status of thos on the edge of society. Circus freaks, strippers, special needs….she captured them with sensitivity, pathos and empathy.

  1. Last minute entry!!!! I had decided not to enter this month as my time has been eaten up with all sorts of nonsense. At the eleventh hour I was overcome with the need to make sure I kept some discipline and get a song done, so here it is.

  2. So much to love about this, Simon. Captivating melody, lyrics & arrangement. I must admit I find myself drawn to your ideas and music each month & I’m glad you found the time to share this.

  3. Ooh I really like this. Refreshingly different and love the chord choices and harmonies. Really enjoyed the pictures but I also think your lyrics really captured the spirit of what you’re telling. I don’t know if it’s intentional but there’s a song “of Diane” by Fleetwood Mac and the “whole Diane” made me smile with the similar sound but completely different meaning. Great job!

  4. I really was taken by this song Simon. I had not heard of this photographer, but I’m about to go and look her up! Great melody, it also has the dignity in that laid back rhythm that you sing about..

  5. I know what you mean Simon. I was last minute as well. You’ve done well to get a good production, mine was rushed on my I pad. Really like the song. Don’ t know of her at all. Love the groove, got a great Doors feel to it. Nice one.
