Deeper

As I explored this subject, it became an inward journey that took on a life of its own and revealed something deeper beyond the initial wish. Lyrics below:-

Deeper

My radar's always scanning for the hopeful signs
That someday we'll be together, before we're out of time
That all the sacred moments that we're not allowed to share
Will find a safe & silent space away from what we fear

My Mind & Heart they argue from their different points of view
My Mind says “This is futile”, my Heart says “See it through”
My Souls says “There is more than this than meets the naked eye”
My feelings say “Please trust me, its not just a wishful lie”

So I go deeper and deeper to the depths of my Soul
Deeper & deeper to where I am whole
Deeper and Deeper Where my Soul knows that I can fly
To soar above the heavens without having to know why

So when I think of our love, I wonder what its for
Is wanting to be with you the symptom or the cause
Or just a search for parts of me that are already there
Would really being with you answer my Soul's prayer?

So my mind and heart consider their different points of view
My mind says ”I am listening”, my Heart says “How d'ya do”
My Soul says “Going deeper is where all the answers lie
And this is the secret to learning how to fly”

So go deeper and deeper to the depths of your Soul
Deeper & deeper to where you are whole
Deeper and Deeper where your Soul knows it can fly
And soar above the heavens without having to know why

  1. I love the contrast between going deeper so your soul can fly. A fascinating idea. I love the ending in particular, but throughout the chords are so interesting. These songwriting workshops really draw so much out of us, don’t they?

  2. I really like the different perspectives of the same person examining if they really want / need to be with someone. I also really like the ending and as I mentioned at the workshop I really like the chords you’ve chosen. I know you’ve made changes / added things but its so good to hear it again.
