Cold stone wall blues
Many years ago, some friends and I were travelling by car on pre 'M' roads, heading along the Pennines to Newcastle. It was a misty winters day and after some time one of our friends sighed "these cold stone walls could give you the blues". I was recently playing around with some chords when suddenly his words popped into my head and the song developed into "Cold stone wall blues". Thanks for listening, Steve.
That’s a great cluster of lines from ‘When you’re full of drink…’ Loved the strings, altogether a lovely sound, with a sensitively arranged backing. Good song!
This is a beautiful arrangement of an excellent song. The chorus is especially engaging and memorable.
Wonderful song. Beautifully recorded. Awesome
With the song title I was expecting a traditional blues number but this goes far beyond that, of course. This is very well produced, catchy, but still allowing the great lyrics to take centre stage. ‘When you’re full of drink but still sober, when you’re full of pain but you don’t hurt’ is a great lyric I can relate to! Cheers.
Thanks for the encouraging comments.
Really strong song and arrangement, liked this!
Great arrangement and lovely blend of instruments and voice. There are some lovely lyrics in there as well.
A lot of truth & emotion in this. Sensitively written & arranged. Very engaging and listenable.
“when your eyes no longer see danger that’s when life has lost it’s worth” tragic but very meaningful. Lovely arrangement too.
Fantastic, really loved the chorus.
Great song, great arrangement. Some excellent lines in there – ‘when your eyes no longer see danger that’s when life has lost it’s worth’ ‘When you’re full of drink but still sober, when you’re full of pain but you don’t hurt’ Tidy
