Children need Love
I thought I would come at this from a different angle. I hope you enjoy it. The extra accompaniment is from my arrangement in Band in a Box. My guitar is DI'd into the audio interface. The mic is a plain old SM58.

Children need clothes and a roof overhead
They need food and friends and a comfortable bed
They need your time, but all else above
Children need safety and children need love
The pain that you’re nursing, I don’t dismiss
From a sudden betrayal, an Iscariot kiss
I know that sometimes it’s hard to be strong
But take care of the ones who have done nothing wrong
Your heart may be broken you’ve been hung out to dry
You’re wondering how, and wondering why
It all came to this, it was going so well
It seemed like heaven, but you’re going through hell
I know it means nothing to preach to the choir
It’s just apple pie, or the warmth of a fire
But it’s often forgotten, and the costs are too great
You can’t put it right if you leave it too late
Children need clothes and a roof overhead
They need food and friends and a comfortable bed
They need your time, but all else above
Children need safety and children need love
Lovely sentiment and lyric
Nice sweet song Eric
There are some lovely lyrics and rhymes in there.
What a great theme for a song, really well crafted lyrics and a nice arrangement too.
Thanks Andy Smith, Huw James, Ian Ball and Julie Meikle for your kind comments. They mean more than competition results every time!
I’m so fascinated by the band in a box…. Nice sentiment to this song (and very true, they do),
Thanks Rebecca! You put in the chords, pick the style and tempo and away you go. I like to import the tracks separately each as a wav file. Then I can mix them into my Studio One file. To record I sang and played against a quiet backing track, rather than use headphones.
Hi Eric, Great sentiments that we can all agree with. I particularly like ‘ take care of the ones who have done nothing wrong’ sums it up really. Pretty tune, too. Now, I just need to get one of those Band in a Box gismo’s! Cheer, Phil.
This is one of the few songs to talk about love other than in a romantic sense, Eric. Simple, direct lyrics that carry an important message.
Touching subject and lovely lyrics. Very sincere delivery of a sweet song.
Lovely!
