Well done Suzanne Harper for winning the Country challenge! This is “A Long Way Down” and it’s about the transportation of convicts to Australia in the 18th and 19th century – cheerful eh??

Lovely flowing sound that builds nicely.
Very enjoyable
Alan, a great story with a super delivery.
Love that! Very powerful. Probably my favourite song of yours. Very powerful. Great performance too. Good one!
Great dynamic change through the song along with the strong lyrics make for a very nice song.
You are getting more expressive in your songwriting and your delivery -really good!
Great song Alan. I love the dynamics of it, builds up nicely. Found myself playing air drums at the end. I also love the vocal line on the word ‘land’ at the end of the choruses. Nice
Really enjoyed that, great story and lovely dynamic build, fab performance!
That’s a really powerful song Alan. You used the percussive accompaniment on the guitar very effectively to reflect the lyric. I considered this topic for a while, but I’m pleased now that I left it for you!
Great narrative, I do like a good story song. Really enjoyed your guitar playing starting with picking then picking up the pace with some heavy strumming.
Good one Alan, great all round songwriting, performance and melody. Brilliant!
As I said on fb..Powerful song, the lyric/story def takes the centre stage and the driving rhythm adds impact, I thought it was so well conceived. Great!
Great lyrics and love how this builds to the end. Another fab song from you.
Excellent! I like the verse melody in particular. Nice performance too.
Oooh I love this, Alan. Skilfully crafted & performed with drive & energy. The chorus is the gem for me. Powerful and catchy. It lends itself to a solo, duo or group performance & I’d love to hear them all!
Another cracking song from you Alan. It’s got a lovely rhythm, it drives the build. Great job!
This a great song Alan. Gripping story and really drives along. So well executed, Love it.
Great song again Alan! Really good story telling
Another cracker Alan, really interesting chord progression and passing notes, provides great tension at the lyric reveals,
