A Country with No Name
Another rare entry for the monthly challenge, especially as I perform this one live to camera (with a nice video effect). I wrote this song a few weeks ago (convenient given this month’s prompt). It’s just a simple perspective of a world in crisis and empathy with those fleeing conflict, repression and disaster.
That vid effect is great – like looking in through a window. Suits the song too – that grey dislocation. Lovely and sad song
Great lyrics. We have befriended a Ukranian refugee and I am so sure she could relate directly to these lyrics.
Very important song for these days. Great lyrics and musical feel.
The rhythmic piano chords remind me of slow, weary footsteps along the long road you mention. Real heart-tugging sadness, Bernard. I was moved by the idea of not even knowing the name of the country where they could eventually find a home.
The chords and melody truly support the mood and message of the song. No fluff – all meaning.
Love that Bernard. Great lyric and that piano is the perfect accompaniment
Enjoyed that Bernard. One of the few entries that wasn’t an all out “country song” but using country in the title. Nice one.
