Description

Meeting someone after a previous marriage relationship ended and both of us recognizing how much we mean to each other that we can make this work with no drama in our lives. Total respect and love. The song actually came together quite quickly and my lady helped me write the lyrics especially the chorus which was all her. Wrote it in December 2013. One time, I played it at a local cafe, which my friend, a fellow musician owned and it had open mics and such and once I finished it, a friend of mine in the audience, specifically his wife, said it would be a great Wedding song, which I never thought about it in that way. Ironically, a friend of ours got married last August and she asked me to play it at her wedding! Still one of my favorite songs.

Bio

Rick Groves / Bio
I started playing music when I was very young, listening to bands and performers such as The Beatles, CCR, Rolling Stones, then later on, bands such as America, The Eagles, but I soon became drawn to artists such as Gordon Lightfoot who are singer/songwriters and story tellers, many of whom have influenced me in my style.

I compose my own songs and have played at many Open Mics and special events throughout Simcoe County and Ontario, Canada. I used to perform monthly at a local restaurant/coffee house called TLC in Barrie which catered to weekly Open Mics and showcased musicians each week. Unfortunately, it closed just prior to COVID-19 in 2019.

At one point, I promoted and played at concerts at the Five Points Theatre (formerly the Mady Centre in Barrie, Ontario) bringing in local talent that auditioned and presented them at several successful shows. I had the pleasure of presenting Liona Boyd, a 5-time Juno award winning Canadian classical guitarist at one show.

In May of 2017, I started on a new journey and that was playing music for residents at retirement homes and it has become a very fulfilling, fun and special part of my life. I play throughout Simcoe County and area and that keeps me very active which I also appreciate. COVID-19 stopped that for some time but I am back playing again for the residents.
Currently, I am focussing on recording all of my original music at home at my recording studio and enjoying that a lot, along with re-connecting with 2 good friends from my High School days and having a lot of fun playing music again.

I have a Facebook page called Groove Studios which I am currently placing all my original songs into. I also have my songs posted on Youtube.

Lyrics

Don’t, don’t you see?
Baby it’s you, you and me
Together we can be
Be so strong, happy and free
Nothing can get in our way
We’ll be more, much more than today
This feeling deep inside
Wont, won’t be denied

Hand in hand, soul to soul
Heart to heart, We Are More
We Are More

Tomorrow is a whole new day
And so I sing and I pray
Our love will last forever
And we’re getting better
Our future is bright
So bright and clear
Black turns to white
Bad thoughts disappear

Hand in hand, soul to soul
Heart to heart, We Are More
We Are More

We have more to give
More to love, more to live
We know, know who we are
And have come so very far
You told me that you hardly danced
And that that you wanted the chance
To find someone, to set you free
Please dance with me

Hand in hand, soul to soul
Heart to heart, We Are More
We Are More

Baby, don’t you see?
Baby it’s you, you and me
Together we can be
Be so strong, happy and free

Hand in hand, soul to soul
Heart to heart, We Are More

Hand in hand, soul to soul
Heart to heart, We Are More
More and more, More and more
We Are More, We Are More
