Description

This is a song inspired by my first time experiencing a hurricane when I moved to coast of South Carolina. It’s also about waiting – using the phrase “hurry up and wait” to describe when you are anticipating something.

Bio

Lyrics

Spring of ‘96
Almost 26
When I rode her out
Early warning
Hit by morning
Grabbed a bottle and my axe

That night I prayed
You should have stayed

Chorus

Waiting for the hurricane
Like the night that Jesus came
Waiting for the hurricane
Hurry up and wait – hurry up and wait

(V2)
Inland kid
Don’t know what I did
Didn’t know the ropes
Boarded up
Shuttered down
Every window, every hatch

That night I prayed
You should have stayed

Chorus

Waiting for the hurricane
Like the night that Jesus came
Waiting for the hurricane
Hurry up and wait – hurry up and wait
